FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Short answers for people deciding whether to download RestMap or trying to understand how the app handles data.

How does RestMap rate restrooms?

RestMap combines OpenStreetMap, Refuge Restrooms, MapKit/Apple Places, Open Charge Map, RestMap brand profiles, and user-submitted ratings into RestRoom IQ scores. When source coverage is thin, RestMap can show Needs More Data. Read how the IQ Platform works.

Is RestMap free on iPhone?

Yes. RestMap is free to download and use on iPhone. No account is required. Get it on the App Store.

How can I contribute ratings?

After visiting a restroom, tap the location and use the rating controls to share your experience. Your rating adds to the data shown to future travelers.

Can RestMap help without signal?

Previously loaded locations and ratings can remain available without signal. Live search for new areas requires connectivity.

How do I report incorrect information?

Email the place name, city, and the issue you saw. We can review RestMap data and update what we can.

What data does RestMap collect?

RestMap requires no account and does not sell your data. Precise location used for nearby search and navigation stays on your device. Ratings you choose to submit are stored anonymously, and RestMap uses pseudonymous app and website analytics. Optional iCloud sync and user-requested Premium reports use the data described in the Privacy Policy.

Premium purchases

  • RestMap Premium is billed through your Apple account.
  • If a purchase does not appear on a device, use Restore Purchases in the You tab.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Family Sharing is included.
  • Lifetime means one purchase on your Apple account, with no renewal to manage.
  • If you cancel, everything you made stays yours. Your Trip Reports and the trips in your library stay on your phone — readable, printable, and exportable.

The free trial on the annual plan

  • The annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial. The lifetime option has no trial — it is a single purchase.
  • To avoid being charged, cancel before the trial ends in your App Store subscription settings: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → RestMap.
  • If you have allowed notifications, RestMap sends one reminder two days before the trial ends. Canceling in App Store settings is the reliable way to stop a renewal, whether or not that reminder reaches you.
  • If you were charged after a trial you meant to cancel, request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
