Does anything I use today go behind the paywall?
No. Everything shipped free stays free permanently — that includes all restroom finding, all quality scores, and all medical, accessibility, and family data. Premium is made of new capabilities only.
RestMap finds you a great restroom, free, forever. Premium turns the whole trip into something you can hold: a Trip Report worth printing, a pack that survives the dead zones, a Scout that survives the lock screen, and an Inspector that puts receipts behind the stops you're trusting.
The map, RestRoom IQ scores, Quick Find, Find Best, trip planning as it exists today, and every piece of medical, accessibility, and family data. That is a permanent commitment, not a launch promo. Premium is new capabilities only — never a paywall on something you already had.
What Premium adds
Your plan, stress-tested by a frontier reasoning AI and written up like a guide you'd make for your own family: leave-by recommendations, Plan A and Plan B timelines, every stop with its grade and kid-fit, decision rules with times on them, and a pack list built from the weather and your stops — as a beautiful PDF you can download and share before you leave.
And it researches the drive you couldn't: sights worth a detour with the minutes they'd cost you, one great meal matched to your tastes, and — when you're headed to a park or attraction — whether it's open on your arrival day, what's happening there, and the closures to know about before the gate. Runs only when you ask; RestMap does not add your name, email, advertising identifier, or exact address to report content.
The same report, alive in the app: legs check off as you drive, the timeline re-projects from how the day is actually going, and those decision rules turn into gentle prompts at the moment they matter. When the trip is done, you get a keepsake After-Trip Report — the route you really drove, the stops you made, the miles, the best restroom of the trip.
Your saved route, stops, scores, plan, detour alternates, weather and daylight outlook, sourced place details, and Trip Report — all prepared before you leave, plus a printable one-page glovebox card as the paper backup. Saved guidance and pack contents remain available in airplane mode; live traffic, changed hours, forecast updates, and live rerouting need a connection.
Places change — hours shift, construction closes an entrance. The Inspector researches a place's current hours, recent closures, and access notes, and stamps every finding with the source it came from and an as-of date. Receipts, not a seal. Premium adds Deep Inspect — a deeper pass on any place, with more sources and more fresh checks — and carries the Inspector's evidence into your Trip Reports, so a stop shows its receipts before you commit the plan to it.
Overnight and multi-day depth for the long drives: day-by-day plans with sensible overnight stops, pet-friendly and RV stop detail, and a searchable trip library with stats, which can send a route to your GPS app (GPX) or your days to your calendar. Plus the Atlas — hand-curated interstate guides from RestMap Picks, with corridor maps and the parks and attractions worth a detour along each route arrives in a free Premium update.
The Scout keeps grading the road ahead from your lock screen — next-exit previews with real grades, sourced place details, and freshness labels, no unlock needed.
The Trip Report
Not a chat window — a document. Every Trip Report is typeset to print: your route as a strip map, every stop with its grade and its highway exit, and a pack list built from the weather you'll actually drive through.
The Inspector
Star ratings tell you what a place was like when someone visited. The Inspector tells you what it's like now — and shows its work.
The paper backup
One printed page - stops, grades, times, exits - a simple offline backup you can keep in the glovebox.
Pricing
Founder pricing for the first season. Family Sharing included on both.
One purchase, no subscription to manage — the way we would buy it ourselves.
For the "just this summer" road trip. Try everything free for a week — cancel any time before day 7 in your App Store settings and you pay nothing. If notifications are on, RestMap also sends one reminder before the trial ends. About $1.67 a month, billed yearly.
Founder price — locked in for as long as you stay subscribed.
Premium purchases pay for the frontier AI that reviews every report — and support two people and a duck. No ads, no investors.
No. Everything shipped free stays free permanently — that includes all restroom finding, all quality scores, and all medical, accessibility, and family data. Premium is made of new capabilities only.
Everything you made stays yours. Trip Reports, After-Trip Reports, and the trips in your library remain on your phone — readable, printable, exportable — whether or not you're subscribed. Lapsing pauses new Premium work; it never deletes or shrinks what you already have.
The annual plan starts with 7 days free. Cancel before day 7 in your App Store subscription settings and you pay nothing. If you've allowed notifications, RestMap also sends one reminder two days before the trial ends — but canceling in App Store settings is the reliable way to stop a renewal, whether or not that reminder reaches you. After the trial it renews at $19.99 a year until you cancel. The lifetime option has no trial — it's a single purchase.
Trip Report runs only when you ask. The AI report data includes planned stops with opaque report stop and public-place IDs, public names and types, approximate public-place coordinates, route weather, city-level endpoints, and any traveler context left in the reviewed request field. OpenAI is RestMap's AI provider for v3.0. When RestMap already holds a complete identity for a planned public stop, the app may also send a separate same-place matching envelope to RestMap. It repeats the stop ID, place ID, public name, and type already included in the AI report data and can add an Inspector locator, optional search/enclosing names, non-Unknown locality and region, address, exact public-place coordinates, and held provider anchors. Those additional exact fields are not included in AI prompts, web searches, or research caches and are not reused to improve future reports or Inspector records; only compact Inspector facts authorized by the match may be added to the report. The envelope expires with the temporary report job. RestMap does not add your name, email, advertising identifier, exact private start or end address, or structured health, accessibility, or family settings to report content. A signed StoreKit transaction proof is separately checked by RestMap for access and quota enforcement; it is not included in the AI prompt or web searches and is not stored raw. Tap “What gets sent” to review the AI report data, the separate matching envelope, and their overlapping fields before sending.
No — they're dead-zone protection. Your stops, scores, plan, brief, and position on the route stay on your phone with zero signal. Live rerouting and traffic need a connection and resume automatically when you're back in coverage.
