When to pick RestMap

You want AI quality predictions on the highest-coverage dataset we know of (2M+ locations) across 8 countries, plus the only real road-trip planner in the category (Journey IQ) and in-app navigation that doesn’t hand you off to Apple or Google Maps.

You also want transparent data sourcing, anonymous use, and a maker you can email.

When to pick Flush

Longest-running pure-finder app, global community coverage, clean focused UI. If all you need is “nearest restroom, tap-and-go” and you’re not planning routes, Flush does that job directly. Be aware the dataset is user-submitted and thinner outside major cities.

When to pick SitOrSquat

Owned by Charmin, backed by editorial ratings, well-curated in the US. Trusted-brand feel. Smaller global coverage, no AI layer, no trip planning. Reasonable default for US commuters who want a big-brand app.

When to pick Refuge Restrooms

Refuge is the gold-standard database for trans, intersex, and gender non-conforming travelers. Open source. Community-run since 2014. It’s the underlying dataset that RestMap (and other apps) build on top of for LGBTQ+ coverage. If that’s your primary need, Refuge is the source of truth — and you should support them directly.

When to pick Bathroom Scout

Largest raw location count in the category (1.8M+). Solid coverage across big cities worldwide. No AI layer, no quality scoring, no road-trip planning. Pick this if you just want the longest list of pins on a map.

Fact-check this page. Every row references the competitor’s own App Store listing or website. If anything’s out of date or wrong, email us — we’ll fix it the same day.
