Changelog
Every RestMap release, dated and detailed. Hand-maintained — no marketing department required.
- Scout IQ on the map: while you drive without a planned trip, RestMap previews your next exit right on the map — a heading chevron plus ranked stop markers ahead of you, and an “Exit ahead” banner showing each stop’s RestRoom IQ grade at a glance. Available in the US to start.
- Clearer trip planning: the Trips tab now has labeled From and To fields, like the maps you already use. Tap Home to drive home in one tap, Swap to flip start and destination, then Get Directions.
- Smarter quality scores: RestRoom IQ now uses a regional quality baseline, so places with little data yet start from a more realistic score — and caregiver-aware scoring is fairer at venues with a confirmed family or companion restroom.
- Polish & fixes: the You-tab notification bell stays tappable as you scroll, EV range reads in your local units, and dozens of surfaces are cleaner on iPhone and iPad in light and dark.
- Privacy: unchanged — anonymous, no account, no tracking. Your saved Home stays on your device only.
- Smoother in-app navigation: camera pitch and lookahead feel calmer on curves and merges — less twitch, fewer pitch jumps when the road bends.
- Deeper caregiver signals: RestMap now weighs five distinct gender-neutral and safety signals (gender-neutral facility, lockable door, companion-friendly room, lower-sensory cues, accessibility) to surface the most caregiver-safe options first.
- EV charging in more regions: corridor stop sampling for road trips is now locale-aware — tuned distances for Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and France so EV stops slot in along your actual route.
- Open-hours confidence on route: Scout IQ surfaces “open now” confidence on upcoming stops, so you don’t pass the last good option because it might be closed.
- Visual polish: icon sizes unified across the app, weather summary card tightened, navigation maneuver bar cleaner on every screen size.
- Privacy: unchanged — anonymous, no account, no tracking. Preferences stay on your device.
- Community Thanks: tap the hands icon to thank the traveler whose tip helped you. Anonymous, no logins, no follower counts — just a quiet way to recognize good contributions.
- iCloud sync: your contributions, badges, and progress now follow you across iPhone and iPad.
- Better for families: family and companion restroom signals come first when you’re traveling with kids or a care recipient, with a confidence rating on every claim.
- Add what’s missing: spot a stop we don’t have? Suggest it from the map — name, type, and accessibility notes.
- RestMap Picks: curated highlights and gentle “watch out” notes on standout stops along your route.
- Now worldwide: RestMap is available wherever the App Store distributes. Eight markets (US, CA, GB, IE, AU, NZ, CH, FR) get fine-tuned regional scoring.
- World Tour expansion: 7 daily puzzles instead of 1, with 6 months of content queued up. Earn the travel badge by playing daily.
- Access-badge refactor: Cleaner, clearer access model across every screen — especially for widgets and the Find Best sheet.
- Faster IQ scoring on the Find Best flow, plus Done-button alignment and cooldown-banner fixes.
- Dark-mode contrast pass across the entire website.
- SEO refresh: meta rewrites on zero-click pages, sitemap refresh, and LGBTQ+ landing-page polish.
- Active Trip 3D Follow: In-app immersive turn-by-turn with camera tracking — stay in RestMap instead of handing off to Apple or Google Maps.
- Scout IQ on-route intelligence: Open-hours confidence scoring, corridor deduplication, desert-aware stop spacing. Never pass the last good option without knowing it.
- Multi-day trip planner (phase 1): Support for trips that span multiple driving days.
- Speed limit engine and maneuver engine v2 for more accurate navigation prompts.
- World Tour daily puzzles launch — a geography-plus-restrooms crossword that teaches you about the places RestMap covers.
- Waddles mascot system: 731 contextual phrases across 37 situations, a 260-fact geo-knowledge base across 8 regions, and XP Surprise rewards for curious travelers.
- Quick Find v2: Refined urgent-needs path that prioritizes speed and proximity without any “emergency” stigma.
- Rubber duckie mascot expansion and unified post-visit feedback.
- Discoverability pass: Onboarding, tooltips, and first-session flow tuned so new users find Find Best in under a minute.
- XP rulebook — transparent, written-down rules for how contributions turn into XP and badges.
- France expansion: our 8th supported country. Local chain intelligence, regional algorithm weights, and language-tuned place names.
- Liquid Glass design system rollout — iOS 26’s material language applied consistently across pills, cards, banners, and navigation.
- Intelligent notifications: context-aware nudges that respect Chatty / Balanced / Quiet personality settings.
- POI share cards: share a beautiful, summarized card of any restroom to friends, group chats, or social.
- Open Charge Map integration: EV charging stops alongside restroom stops for electric-vehicle road trips.
- Confidence scores on every quality grade — so you can tell an A from a tentative A.
- Comfort alerts for long stretches without quality stops.
- Refuge resilience: graceful fallback if the Refuge Restrooms API has a bad day. Your LGBTQ+ data stays available.
- Field feedback system — in-app prompts to validate stops you’ve actually visited.
